This is across the road from the arts center where I teach a cartoons/comix class. This and the art building remind me of something out of a 'Miyazaki'* landscape. The class is held in a curious, one-story, flat-roofed structure, out-of-time and oddly charming,

It's impossible to have a symbol in a painting without using the symbol to convey something; I chose to paint this scene & thought it important to carefully render the flag - to render the light passing through it, the transparency of it.
