Lisa Iaboni
Squalor, mess, unhappiness – a rubber band holding the radio together, a hole
punched in the sheetrock, a Brittany Spears poster -
You know, life.

William Knipscher
The somber, poetic infrastructure that supports us humans, sub rosa, in the age
of information.
Beautiful name of one of Mr. Knipscher’s portfolios ; Evening's  Empire.

Simone Gad
You had me at Betty Page ! Certain images in a collage can  sort of open up the
door to the mind and let the other images in.  But that’s a  linear thought  -   In
collage it’s all about Mind, moving, playing on the surface, surface playing on
the mind. It’s important that the images be gorgeous , rich, and laden with
meaning(s), like the ones Ms. Gad has chosen.

Mr.Hanasik performs the sacrament of communion with and for his family

Andrea Kantrowitz
...has the eye of an artist and the soul of a biologist. Maybe it's the other way
around - beautiful light & color in these  still - lifes - if you can use that term
for images that are so organic.

Helen Levitt

Big hero of mine - first time I ever felt warmth & humanity
conveyed (brilliantly & unselfconsciously) in visual art. I was blown away by
a show of hers in Manhattan in the early eighties (Laurence Miller Gallery ?)
and wrote to her - she wrote back & we met. I remember that her village
apartment was like a late-fifties/early sixties time capsule ; kidney-shaped
tables and stuff. She smoked Carltons. Speaking of a time when she was doing
a lot of film editing, splicing film all day, and not photographing much, she
said, "Well, you can really only do one thing at a time".Coming from a great
artist, that's some consolation when I'm beat from doing contracting work, and
not getting much done in the studio.

Wolf Kahn

The simplicity of his
paintings is welcoming, -
it's kind of a relief

     Jeff Koons

His pieces deflect meditation - they're funny, airy, light, shiny.   -
( I'm trying to avoid "kitschy" and "banal").  They play on our
desire for things -    In my mind his pieces all seem to be shiny &
reflective - we can desire them, but not enter into them  - they're
poised for purchase - that's our world, that's where the vitality of art
is - he hasn't filtered it out because it may seem distasteful.

                               Tony Millionaire
God knows when Tony Millionaire started 'maakies', but I remember
excitedly telling someone about it
fifteen years ago ! So he's been doing this
hilarious, beautifully realized art, day after day, week after week, for at least
fifteen  years.
